Menschen uer Menschen won Ethiopian Social Service Prize

Outstanding achievements in the category of Best Non-Governmental Organization 2017

Menschen Fuer Menschen Foundation won best social service delivery organization by its outstanding achievements in SOCIAL SERVICE PRIZE in the category of Best Non-Governmental Organization for the year 2017.

On an event held 13th of May 2018 in Addis Ababa City, Abyssinia Award, which is well known for its various categories of Awards, announced that the Senate of Abyssinia Award approved to honor Menschen Fuer Menschen Foundation for its outstanding social service delivery.

Chief Advisory of Prime Minister of The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Dr. Fasil Nahom said on the event, the award is an acknowledgment of best performance and valuable to motivate other NGOs to exert utmost effort to do their best.

Abyssinia Award Board President, Asefa Kesito also stated that the award has considered number of NGOs working in Ethiopia but prized the best Charities bearing in mind their socio economic impact.

Receiving the award, Menschen Fuer Menschen Foundation Director of Program Coordination & Development, Dr. Asnake Worku, stated that it’s an honor for the

foundation to be recognized by the senate as one of the best charity organization in the country. He also indicated that the foundation has served more than five million people since the last 36 years through its five pillars of operations in different corners of the country. The award is also worthwhile to inspire the foundation and its employees for further social and economic commitments, Dr, Asnake added.

The Menschen für Menschen Foundation has been providing aid for sustainable self-development in Ethiopia for more than 35 years. Together with the local people, Menschen für Menschen dovetails measures in the areas of agriculture, water, education, health and human development in so-called integrated rural development projects. The foundation stone for Menschen für Menschen was laid on 16 May 1981 by former actor Karlheinz Böhm († 2014) with his legendary wager in the German TV show “Wetten, dass…?” The Foundation carries the donation seal of the German Central Institute for Social Affairs (DZI). With over 700 full-time employees, almost all of whom are Ethiopian nationals, Menschen für Menschen is currently carrying out project work in twelve areas.
